gostcoin transaction

I've sent all my gostcoins to you. I'm cleaned out now. I assume the advantage is that all transactions are hidden by the use of I2P, so it is difficult to find out where the money is coming from, or going to. From my point of view, the coins are worthless, and for me it was just an exercise in learning to compile the wallet and mining software from the source code, and get it all running under I2P. If you look at http://gostcoin.i2p/ there is an exchange running there, and if you trust them not to be scammers, you might be able to cash the coins in for something more valuable. Good luck, and thanks for your help.

the problem with all ecoins, including bitcoin, is the use of a blockchain. With bitcoin the blockchain is on the order of 150 GB. If even just 5% of Americans tried to mine bitcoin, less than 1% of miners would make any money. You would need to use U.S. dollars to obtain something that is essentially worthless. Electronic currency should not depend on any proof of work scheme. It should be a proof of share scheme. Then several billion nodes could run the network and everyone would get paid a very small amount. When the ecoins are accepted for products and services, it would work just like money. You could mine a tiny bit, but to get a usable amount you would have to work for it. So everyone could be mining it to keep the currency growing, and normal work and business would keep it circulating. What this boils down to is this. Use a distributed mining software to mint the electronic money, which replaces the central bank and the national treasury, with algorithms that prevent centralized control. With the right ratios you could not get rich or even earn an income from mining, but you would be producing just enough, with just enough payout to pay for the electricity, to make it worthwhile but not actually profitable.

Wow! Thanks! They might not be worth anything now, but maybe some day they will. Bitcoin was also worthless for a long time ;)

That's all right. They only took me a few days to mine, so it didn't cost me very much. Now I've got to find smeone who wants all my BBQCoins.

I've mined a few more, so now I have 11,000 BQC to give away.

Would you be willing to post a short 'how-to' guide to explain how you got it working? I took a look at gostcoin repo and it looked hard to set up.

The instructions for compiling a gostcoin wallet are on the page. I am using Ubuntu Linux. I have to admit that this exercise was quite a steep learning curve for Granny Smith! Building GOSTCoin Install development libraries: sudo apt-get install build-essential libtool libboost-all-dev git libdb++-dev libssl-dev zlib1g-dev Clone repository: git clone https://github.com/GOSTSec/gostcoin.git ~/gostcoin Build dependencies: cd ~/gostcoin/i2psam/ make -f makefile.unix Build gostcoind: cd ~/gostcoin/src make -f makefile.unix This worked for me. Optional: Build QT GUI didn't work for me, but you don't need it anyway, just run gostcoind from the terminal. There used to be some instructions for building the gostcoin wallet for Windows using MSYS2, but they seem to have disappeared, and I can't remember how I did it now. Don't forget that GOSTCoin is using Invisible Internet (I2P) as a secure network layer, so you'll need to set that up. The instructions are on the page too. GOSTCoin needs I2P router Install and run i2pd. Enable SAM API in i2pd. Edit in i2pd.conf: [sam] enabled = true and restart i2pd. Local TCP port 7656 should be available. It took me ages to get i2pd working to my satisfaction because, by default, all the needed config files and folders are all in the wrong places, and I had to try and figure out where they actually needed to be! The CPU miner software builds easily under Ubuntu, but I gave it up when all the 'big guns' with their high power GPUs drove the mining difficulty too high for my low power processor to compete with. I never did manage to compile a Windows version of the CPU miner software. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

How does one actually mine gostcoin without the cpuminer? I've wasted hours trying to get cpuminer to work with no success. Does gostcoin have its own miner built in? It's not clear to me how to actually mine gostcoin.

BM-GtosDJrzeGLFAyrFHmDe5m2omsqCxpbE

You need the dedicated gostcoin cpuminer. I ran it with the command: nice -n 19 cpuminer -a gostd -t <number of threads> -o http://127.0.0.1:9376 -O <rpc username>:<rpc password>

There aren't any pools, that I know of, so you'll have to do solo mining. Be told that the mining difficulty is now so high that solo mining gostcoin on a CPU isn't economically viable. I gave away all my gostcoins to a random stranger on here, and I don't have any now, and I'm unable to mine any more on my slow CPU.

I mine about 10 coins per day on my i5-2500K. I use solo mining, and my wallet not connected to i2p.

Aug 21 08:30

How did you get your Gostcoin wallet to connect to their network without using I2P?

[chan] general
Aug 21 18:33

Via other 3 nodes, who connect to both clearnet and i2p. I wounder where I can trade my Gostcoins ?

Unless you have free electricity, your power bill is bigger than the value of the coins you are mining.

I saw this site, it's not an exchange.

Aug 26 07:04

Then I don't know what else to suggest. You'll have to try and find an exchange that accepts gostcoins yourself.
