%%% Bitmessage Insecure Station (Give them your Fingerprints) %%% %%% Bitmessage Insecure Station (with identifying hardware serial numbers) %%% Let them have fingerprints. You have 2^64 hands * 10 = fingerprints The problem is the solution. The problem: hardware serial numbers used as fingerprints. The solution: give them an avalanche of fingerprints. They want to eat you. Puff up like an iron blowfish and stuff yourself in their throat. I built my own "bitmessage insecure station" a couple years ago quite by accident. I discovered an ultra high measure of privacy using a highly insecure spyware device. What a twist! It uses a device specifically designed to track and spy on you to prevent them from spying on you. It costs $20 USD to construct. It uses the most insecure device imaginable to achieve this security. If you can't trust anonymous losers in the darknet, who can you distrust? ;) The rub: $20 USD for this spy device can reasonably secure your bitmessage traffic against fingerprinting techniques. It does so by creating a non-stop stream of untraceable random, throw-away fingerprints in any device that has endpoint sidechannels exploited. Setup is a bit tedious. It can be automated with a script. To increase security we can script an app to randomize serial numbers and signature keys of pieces of hardware so that they are constantly, randomly rotated, and these randomized, throwaway, untracable numbers, once meant to identify you, now make the snooper bewildered with fake, useless data. By leveraging the insecurity features one can turn them into highly secure features. The problem is the solution. (BMan) BM-NBToG97zU8cqLTVymWTSxSNSxRnPZSG7

Regarding Anonymity, and TOR, and even with the BitMessage Secure Station open-hardware open-core, it is fucking important, as a "by design" measure to empower anonymity, that the BitMessage protocol becomes "as hidden channel safe" as possible. For those who take the time to read my two article (That are almost finished, a few spelling mistakes still there) regarding the BitMessage Secure Station, you will understand that tracking of users, meaning breaking the anonymity, is at 90% a matter of fingerprints and the hidden channels used to transmit them. https://blogs.mediapart.fr/stman/blog/090717/snowdens-dream-bitmessage-secure-station-open-hardware-open-core-project https://blogs.mediapart.fr/stman/blog/090717/torvpn-fingerprinting-family-anonymity-breach-fix-custom-fpga-based-ic What does this mean ? It means that restoring Anonymity cannot be done by a single measure, but a large combination of tricks that combined all together, make tracking through fingerprints impossible. Doing so requires two "by design" approach : - Design protocols that are hidden channel safe, meaning where there is no place to hide fingerprints into the data into an embedded hidden channel. - Fight fingerprints directly by avoiding to create and use fields/data that can be used as fingerprints. I have not the time for now to put my nose again into the BitMessage protocol details, but when I had a serious look at it 2 month ago, I say a few things that had to be changed. The rest of the fight against fingerprints and their hidden channel, or their exploitations, are detailed through numerous tricks we apply in parallel in the BitMessage Secure Station open-hardware open-core architecture. We will manage to restore true anonymity by combining as much "by design" tricks oriented that way as possible. My conclusion is that the change made by Peter for the nonce is a good news. It is clearly something that will help, like all the other tricks, restoring anonymity. Kind regards, Stman. BitMessage Secure Station open-hardware open-core core developer

And I would add that drawning them with fake fingerprints is a very good thing to, but it is not possible currently, as long as we would have to use exclusively open-hardware 100% open-core made computers instead of those two raspberry pi, and that it is not the case for the moment. Of course, in the future, we can plan developping a BitMessage Secure Station fully made out of FPGA to replace the Raspberry Pi, but it's a lot of work, and it is not possible for us for the moment. It also raises the price of the overall open-hardware open-core BitMessage Secure Station by a factor of 2 or 3. Which is another important aspect to take into consideration. I personnaly think that current BitMessage Secure Station is the best optimized compromise regarding costs v/s anonymity protection, with no sacrifice made either on security, privacy, or anonymity. Kind regards, Stman BitMessage Secure Station open-hardware open-core core developer.
