It's not a problem, it's a feature. This is because of your system's edition I think. It's a windows 10 professional what activated using corporate key and KMS server or "cracked" with local KMS emulation. Such system needs to reactivate every 180 days IIRC.

The pirate activation software that I used initially seems to be blocked now, and no longer works. I'm having problems finding one that is not infested with malware.

The last Windows OS I used as a daily driver was 98SE. Went to Linux and have never looked back. If you NEED Windows for a certain thing, MS does have virtual machine images that you can spin up for 90 days at a time for free. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/

I ditched windows over 15 years ago. I bought a OEM computer once with Windows 8 pre-installed. I booted to a linux installer and installed linux and that was that. I never even tried to use Windows 8.
