git is insecure. it doxes your hostname, ip address, machine name, and gateway host name to DNS and recipient host even if using it over tor proxy. i don't know how to stop git from doing this. i don't like git. Is there any vcs that is simpler and safer to use?

I don't need a citation. Git queries DNS servers using your hostname data, computer name, gateway name. run it through a pipe and see.

you're not reading. it queries DNS using non-tor hostname data

you obviously dont know tails. tails hostname is localhost.localdomain. tails does not allow non-root access to lan. ip address in private range is practically useless. so no problem with git on tails

Git isn't insecure, github maybe. Really github is the opposite of what git is all about anyway. A central repository is anathema to git.
