Future, philosophy and guns (was: Re: Message by Julian Assange)

As far as I know, AK47 is an assault rifle rather than a submachine gun. So it doesn't look like you know what you're talking about. While I'm all for as many people as possible having guns, I'm disappointed to see trolls trying to distract Stman, who's working hard on building (post-)cryptoanarchist infrastructure. If he doesn't want a gun, leave him alone. I personally recommend getting a permit and a gun (or more guns) before the EU completely bans them, but I understand that many find the idea of owning a gun disturbing. It takes time to train to properly use them, safely store them and take care of them, and it's ok to come to the conclusion that your time is better spent elsewhere. I recommend everyone to come to HCPP18 (next year), in particular Stman if he can manage that. I met four people involved in the development or research of bitmessage while I only expected to find two: - Daniel Krawisz (bmd developer) - @weedcoder (a friend of Stman also involved in the Bitmessage Secure Station project) - Jonathan Coe (author of BitSeal) - @kewde (contributor to bitmessage on github, working with a team on a related project) There were speakers from both the more technical as well as the more philosophical sides of the movement. Some were asking the same questions as Stman (e.g. should we move to post-cryptoanarchism, for example Frank Braun and Smuggler). There was a speech by Jim Bell, the author of the infamous "Assassination Politics" essay (an idea for a crypto prediction market where people can place bets on the date of politicians' deaths), who spent many years in prison for bullshit reasons. There was Amir Taaki, who fought with the Kurds against the ISIS and after returning to the UK, the police and customs have been harrassing him (although he told me they now "only" harrass him when he's returning from a trip). So everyone can find something special, and can have an interesting debate. Attending the congress always reinvigorates me and gives me motivation to keep working on Bitmessage for the next year. Have a nice day, Peter Surda Bitmessage core developer
